ABOUT US
OUR MISSION
The Indiana County Highway Workers Foundation (ICHWF) exists to provide financial assistance to Indiana county highway workers who are killed or disabled while working in the line of duty.

When injury happens, we ensure that workers and their families are not left to navigate the financial hardship alone.
OUR STORY
The Indiana County Highway Workers Foundation was founded by Curt Higginbotham, Lisa Ridge, and Ben Beer, along with numerous members of Indiana's county highway community, who recognized that no dedicated safety net existed for injured county highway workers.

In 2024, ICHWF began offering direct financial assistance through a hardship application process reviewed by the Board of Directors. Since our founding, two families have received emergency assistance following devastating work-related accidents. In both cases, the Foundation provided $5,000 in direct support to help stabilize the household during recovery.
Though we hope our services are never needed, we remain ready to respond when tragedy strikes.
HOW WE HELP
Eligible workers or their families may submit a hardship application to info@ichwf.org. Applications are reviewed confidentially by the Board of Directors to verify eligibility and determine appropriate assistance.

Support may help cover:
-
Mortgage or rent payments
-
Utilities and essential living expenses
-
Travel and medical-related costs
-
Other urgent financial needs during recovery
There is no application fee and no expectation of repayment. Our goal is to reduce stress so families can focus on healing.
OUR COMMITMENT TO STEWARDSHIP
ICHWF is a fully volunteer-led organization. Every website update, social media post, outreach effort, and fundraising initiative is carried out by individuals who care deeply about supporting injured highway workers and their families.

Grant funding and donations are not used for salaries or nonessential expenses. With virtually no overhead, the majority of funds raised are directed toward direct assistance.
We are committed to operating with both financial responsibility and generosity, ensuring that support remains available for future families while maximizing the immediate impact of every contribution.
