SUPPORTING INDIANA'S COUNTY HIGHWAY WORKERS WHEN THEY NEED IT MOST

The Indiana County Highway Workers Foundation (ICHWF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was established to assist the families of Indiana highway workers who are killed or disabled while working. ICHWF provides direct financial support to injured county highway workers and their families during times of crisis.

WHAT WE DO

Indiana county highway workers serve in a critical public safety role. They maintain and repair roadways, respond to emergency conditions, clear storm debris, remove snow and ice, and operate heavy equipment in active traffic environments. These responsibilities place them in inherently hazardous conditions daily.

When a highway worker sustains a serious injury in the line of duty, the consequences extend beyond the physical injury itself. Families often experience immediate income disruption, ongoing medical-related expenses, travel costs for treatment and rehabilitation, and emotional strain compounded by financial uncertainty.

The Indiana County Highway Workers Foundation was created in response to this gap. Eligible workers and their families may submit a hardship application. Applications are then reviewed by the ICHWF Board of Directors to confirm eligibility and determine appropriate assistance.

ICHWF exists to fill a critical gap - yet our ultimate hope is that our assistance is never needed.

"I was so thankful, relieved, and happy to receive the ICHWF donation. This gift allowed me to relax and not worry so much about the burden and stress this accident has placed on my family."
